A very warm welcome back to the blog folks.
In this series on The Best Side Hustles 2023 we don’t just talk about lucrative side hustles, we live it too!
Today I’m going to share how I made an extra $2000 as a Content creator on Fiverr.
If you have a good quality mobile phone or blogging camera, and microphone, and you’re familiar with basic editing then this is a lucrative side hustle for you! And the cherry on top is that this is a well-paying side hustle that you can do from home.
(Also as a side note – you don’t necessarily need an excellent quality camera – many of the clients I’ve worked with prefer you to create naturalistic testimonials – more on this later!)
I specialize in making explainer and testimonial videos on Fiverr but the advice I cover applies to lots of Freelance roles on Fiverr.

Why Join Fiverr as a Content Creator?
Great Side Hustle income
In most instances, I create a video that takes 30 seconds and my fee is around £42 ($50)
A Well-Paid Side Hustle You Can Do From Home
If you already have a busy home life, it’s not practical to take on a side hustle with a long commute, or that just doesn’t tie in with your schedule. If you have a spare couple of hours around school work/career while the baby is sleeping or between the school run then this is the perfect side hustle for you!
I enjoy filming content for clients after my morning coffee run, and editing in the afternoon. It fits in nicely with my work.
No Startup Costs
With Fiverr, you don’t have to go to the lengths of creating a website or social media profiles and promoting yourself. Fiverr often does a lot of the work for you. Every day I receive messages from potential clients.
Freebies and Perks
I can’t talk about content creation without mentioning all the gorgeous freebies. As part of creating videos, I have been gifted hundreds of pounds worth of perfumes, candles, jewellery, beauty tech and beauty products. It’s a lovely perk of the job!
With these reasons in mind, let’s dive in:
How To Make $2000 on Fiverr
Make a Video
Whatever freelance services you’re offering, I recommend taking the extra time to create a video explaining the service you offer.
A video helps you to stand out from the crowd. The vast majority of Freelancers on Fiverr don’t have a video outlining their service. You’re much more likely to generate orders, simple.
Make Your Profile Shine
Your profile is your storefront so do everything you can to encourage sales! I recommend having the first few sentences introducing yourself and the freelance service you offer.
Next, have a paragraph sharing why you’re so good at your particular role and your unique experiences.
Most clients skim-read so next up, be sure to have a list of bullet-points emphasizing why you’re the girl or guy for the job.
Highlight the equipment that you have. Finally, have a call to action! Tell potential clients to ‘Get In Touch today – Before Your Competitors Do!”
Showcase Your Best Work
Having a portfolio that showcases your best work can be a significant advantage on Fiverr. Potential clients usually want to see examples of your previous work to gauge your skills and style. Ensure your portfolio is up-to-date and displays a range of work that accurately represents your capabilities. If possible, include testimonials from previous clients for added credibility.
Use The Fiverr App
Top Tip! Fiverr has an app and you receive an instant notification when a potential customer messages you.
From personal experience, I receive lots of messages from potential clients at large brands. They often have a tight deadline and need a video created within the next 24-48 hours. It really pays to respond to messages immediately. I do believe I’ve won lots of clients purely from being one of the first freelancers to respond.
Have Multiple Gigs
As a content creator on Fiverr, it’s beneficial to diversify your offerings and create multiple gigs. Each gig represents a unique service that you provide, whether it’s blog post writing, graphic designing, video editing, or SEO consulting. By offering multiple services, you increase your visibility on the platform because each of your gigs has a chance of appearing in different search results. This increases the likelihood of your profile being discovered by potential clients who are looking for a variety of content creation services. Think of each gig as an opportunity to showcase a different facet of your skills and talents, thereby casting a wider net to catch more clients.
Share Your Profile on Awin.com
If you already have an established presence in the form of a blog or YouTube channel, sharing your Fiverr gig on affiliate websites like Awin.com can significantly boost your visibility. Awin.com is an affiliate marketing network where hundreds of thousands of brands are actively searching for content creators for paid and PR work. Its ‘Opportunity Marketplace’ is a platform where you can openly promote your gig and blog, creating a broader awareness of your services. By sharing your profile here, you open doors to potential collaborations and job opportunities from a wide range of brands, thereby expanding your earning potential.
Follow Up and Close the Sale
Customer retention is just as crucial as customer acquisition. A common occurrence on Fiverr is potential clients reaching out for information but not placing an order immediately. It’s essential to take the initiative and politely follow up with these prospective clients. Furthermore, for clients who have already placed an order, you can keep them engaged by providing promotional offers, like a 20% discount on their next project. You might say something like, “This week I’m having a huge sale and taking 20% off each project. I’d love to work with you and have time in my schedule on Friday.” This strategy not only keeps your existing clients engaged but also encourages them to continue using your services, ultimately leading to more orders and increased income.
Keep Improving Your Skills
The digital landscape is constantly evolving, and so should your skills. Take some time to learn new tools, techniques, or trends relevant to your services. This continuous learning not only keeps you ahead of the curve but also allows you to offer more value to your clients. Offering services that align with the latest trends or technologies can make your gigs more attractive to potential clients.
Offer Excellent Customer Service
While your main job is content creation, don’t forget the importance of customer service. Be proactive in your communication, always keep clients informed about the project progress, and address their concerns promptly. Maintaining a high level of professionalism, even in challenging situations, can set you apart from other service providers on Fiverr. This will not only increase client satisfaction but also foster a higher rate of repeat business.
I have a large number of repeat customers and I like to take the care to
Adapt and Optimize Your Gigs
As you gain more experience on Fiverr, you’ll get a better understanding of what works and what doesn’t. Be open to adapting and optimizing your gigs based on the feedback you receive and the performance of each gig. Use analytics provided by Fiverr to see which of your gigs are getting more attention and why. This data-driven approach can help you refine your gig descriptions, pricing, or even the services you offer.
Sure, here are a couple more ideas for sections that you could include in your article:
Understand Your Client’s Needs
As a content creator, understanding your client’s needs is vital to the success of your services. This is a big one! On one of my first projects: a voice over and editing project – I ended up doing it completely wrong as I hadn’t understood the client’s brief correctly. Fortunately she didn’t cancel the order, but asked me to complete it again, but it was honestly excruciating and a total waste of both of our time. I ought to have reached out to her to ask questions, rather than race ahead to try and finish the project quickly.
Each client you encounter will have a unique set of requirements and objectives. Therefore, taking the time to understand what they want, their brand, their audience, and their vision will enable you to tailor your services more effectively. This client-centric approach not only ensures project success but also increases the likelihood of your client returning for more services. Remeber, it always look good if you ask the client questions! Now with this in mind, let’s move on to…
Manage Your Time Effectively
Time management is a critical aspect of being a successful freelancer on Fiverr. The ability to balance multiple projects, meet deadlines, and still produce high-quality work is a skill that clients highly value. Remember to set a time – this will show you how much you are being paid per hour. I use Clockify – it’s a great platform for freelancers, especially if you have multiple clients.
Know Your Worth
Fiverr takes a 20% commission on all your gigs: knowing your worth and pricing your services accordingly is another important aspect of being a successful content creator on Fiverr. If your services are priced too low, you might attract clients, but you’ll find it difficult to make a substantial income. On the other hand, if your prices are too high without a justifiable quality or experience, you might deter potential clients.
Leverage Reviews and Testimonials
One crucial aspect of establishing credibility on Fiverr is through garnering positive reviews and testimonials. Whenever you complete a project, encourage your clients to leave a review of your services. These reviews play a vital role in influencing potential clients’ decision-making process. It’s a testament to your professional capabilities and dedication to delivering quality work. Be sure to respond to all reviews professionally, acknowledging both praises and constructive criticism.
Network and Collaborate
Last but not least, consider networking and collaborating with other freelancers on Fiverr. Partnering with others could allow you to take on larger projects and expand your service offerings. It’s also a great way to learn from more experienced freelancers and gain insights into how they’ve achieved their success. Networking can open doors to opportunities that you might not have had access to on your own.
Be Patient
Finally, patience is key when building a successful freelance career on platforms like Fiverr. As with any new venture, it takes time for gigs to start rolling in and for you to gain momentum. While it can be tempting to expect immediate results, remember that success comes to those who wait. It took me around six months to earn $2000 on Fiverr, which just goes to show the importance of persistence and patience. Stick with it, continue refining your gigs based on client feedback, and stay dedicated to providing high-quality services, and over time, your efforts will pay off.
Key Takeaways
Let’s wrap up. To start making a great side hustle income on Fiverr these are all the key things to remember. Having multiple gigs will help you reach a wider audience, and sharing your profile on platforms such as Awin.com can significantly enhance your visibility. Always follow up with potential clients and capitalize on closing sales, and most importantly, practice patience as success in freelancing doesn’t happen overnight.
Moreover, regularly improving your skills and offering excellent customer service can make a world of difference. Use the feedback you receive to continually optimize your gigs, and don’t shy away from networking and collaborating with other freelancers on the platform. Understanding your client’s needs, managing your time effectively, and showcasing your best work are all part of providing top-notch service. And finally, never forget to price your services appropriately, reflecting your worth and the quality you deliver.
An effective tool to help manage all these aspects is the Fiverr app. The app enables you to track orders, communicate with clients, and manage your gigs, all from the convenience of your mobile device. It’s a great tool to keep you organized and responsive, even when you’re on the go.
In conclusion, thriving on Fiverr is a blend of strategy, skill, and patience. No matter where you are in your Fiverr journey, keep these tips in mind to consistently enhance your performance and income as a content creator. Remember, success doesn’t come overnight, but with commitment, creativity, and a customer-focused approach, the sky is truly the limit!
I’ll keep you posted as I have more adventures on Fiverr and will report back soon!
Much love,
Fortuna xx
